{"id":1769,"date":"2025-06-10T10:20:48","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T09:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/?p=1769"},"modified":"2025-06-10T10:24:06","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T09:24:06","slug":"river-thames-scheme-excluded-from-consultation-on-flood-defence-partnership-funding-policy-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/?p=1769","title":{"rendered":"River Thames Scheme excluded from consultation on Flood Defence Partnership Funding Policy Reform?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\"><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">I received the following from the Thames RFCC:<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Defra launched a public consultation <\/span><\/strong>on Investment Reform that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>closes on Tuesday 29th July<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 This proposes <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">major updates to the Partnership Funding policy<\/span><\/strong> ahead of the next investment programme starting April 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Key proposals include:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A simplified approach to funding new flood resilience projects<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A proposed approach to prioritising flood resilience projects<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">The consultation also includes a Call for Evidence on longer-term options exploring alternative funding sources and devolution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">The Environment Agency has collaborated closely with Defra to develop the proposal and therefore will not be submitting a response. <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">We are encouraging all local and national stakeholders to respond to the consultation.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">Please see a link to the 70 page consultation documents <a title=\"https:\/\/consult.defra.gov.uk\/floods-and-water\/reforming-our-approach-to-floods-funding\/\" href=\"https:\/\/consult.defra.gov.uk\/floods-and-water\/reforming-our-approach-to-floods-funding\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">Reforming our approach to floods funding &#8211; Defra &#8211; Citizen Space<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>My comments will be published after I have considered the consultation document.\u00a0 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I may be mistaken but it looks like the River Thames Scheme has been specifically identified to be excluded from the process.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <em>[This revised approach will apply to most FCERM resilience projects funded through the Floods Investment Framework.
