Here we go again.\u00a0 Footbridge number 10 over the Jubilee River has collapsed.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 Known as ‘Ashford Lane’ and located in Dorney – this timber bridge was designed and constructed over the Jubilee River by the Environment Agency about 25 years ago.\u00a0 Responsibility for the structure was then transferred to Bucks County Council.\u00a0 The collapsed structure is shown below:<\/p>\n

The footbridge was apparently closed last year for safety reasons and has now collapsed into the Jubilee River.<\/p>\n

If you would like to see this sight for yourself, the footbridge is within easy walking distance from the Pineapple on Lake End Road, Dorney.<\/p>\n

SOME QUESTIONS (and my answers)<\/span>\u00a0– IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

How long will the JR be unusable for?\u00a0(On this occasion – until the Environment Agency get the collapsed timber debris cleared)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Who is responsible?\u00a0(The Council – but not the Parish Council)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Who is accountable for the design and construction of yet another sub-standard wooden bridge over the Jubilee River? (Nobody because the EA signed the structure over to the Council years ago)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Who will pay?\u00a0(The local tax payers of course)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

How much will it cost?\u00a0(\u00a31m?)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

When will this bridge be fixed?\u00a0(allow 2 years?)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

What about the other wooden bridges?\u00a0Berry Hill footbridge has been partially repaired at a cost of nearly \u00a30.5m.\u00a0 Black Potts footbridge is now sagging and unusable – awaiting engineers report.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
