Ashford Lane footbridge collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is a BBC News article by Eric Johnson that clearly identifies not only the Ashford Lane problems today (footbridge collapse creates safety issues) but also the history of how these predictable and avoidable problems were set in motion over 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/czdv0m809rmo\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ashford Lane footbridge collapse sparks safety concerns &#8211; BBC News<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I really must indicate my concern about the quotation <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;We are obviously disappointed that these timber structures have had such serious issues before the end of their original design life.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In my opinion the anticipated life of these timber bridges was shortened by both design and construction shortcomings.\u00a0 We can get people onto the moon &#8211; but we cannot design and build a timber footbridge with a predictable life?\u00a0 It appears to me that \u00a0the design life of these timber footbridges is not the same as the design life of the original MWEFAS project.\u00a0 This is a question to be put to the Environment Agency.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/czdv0m809rmo\">Ashford Lane footbridge collapse sparks safety concerns &#8211;
