When:<\/strong> Wednesday 10 September to Wednesday 8 October 2025.<\/p>\n

[and the question is: Why does it take four weeks to remove the central section of a timber footbridge?\u00a0 I should also ask – is the EA going to replace only the centre section – or the entire footbridge – and if so – when? ]<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> Temple Footbridge, upstream of Temple Lock at Harleyford Lane, SL7 2FL.<\/p>\n

Details:\u00a0 <\/strong>The River Thames at Temple Footbridge will be closed to all traffic from 8am on Wednesday 10 September 2025 to 5pm on Wednesday 8 October 2025 to allow for the removal of the central span of the footbridge.<\/p>\n

Be aware contractors will be setting up prior to river closure.<\/p>\n

Those in charge of all boats must observe any directions given by our Waterways Officers.<\/p>\n

Those in charge of boats should also be aware that they are responsible for avoiding collision and should use all available means appropriate to the circumstances and conditions to decide if there is a risk of immediate danger and avoid it.<\/p>\n

By-laws:<\/strong> Nothing contained in these directions shall supersede those parts of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993 and the UK Merchant Shipping (Distress Signals and Prevention of Collisions) Regulations 1996 as may be relevant. Particular attention should be paid to byelaws 24-42 of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993, Steering Sailing and Speed.<\/p>\n

And Notice is hereby given, that it is provided by Byelaw 52 of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993 that:<\/p>\n

The master of any vessel shall except in an emergency not pass any boat-race regatta public procession or gathering for the launch of a vessel or any other event or function which may cause a crowd to assemble on or by the river nor station his vessel thereon in such a manner as would risk obstructing impeding or interfering with such boat-race regatta procession launching event or function or endangering the safety of persons assembling on the river or preventing or interfering with the maintenance of order thereon.<\/p>\n

The maximum penalty for breach of the Byelaws is \u00a31,000.<\/p>\n
