{"id":2771,"date":"2025-10-25T10:28:31","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T09:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/?p=2771"},"modified":"2025-10-26T11:33:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T11:33:12","slug":"temple-footbridge-foi-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/?p=2771","title":{"rendered":"Temple footbridge &#8211; FoI request and EA response"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Mr Larcombe<\/p>\n<p>We are writing in response to your request for information, received 3 September 2025, regarding 250903\/JA01 FoI request &#8211; timber footbridge design and construction .<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Temple footbridge has now been partially dismantled.\u00a0 I received a response from the Environment Agency to my FoI request (Sept 2nd) for the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Temple-Footbridge-E351-1A-1.pdf\">Temple footbridge technical drawings<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure><object class=\"embed-pdf-viewer\" data=\"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Temple-Footbridge-E351-1A-1.pdf#scrollbar=1&#038;toolbar=1\"type=\"application\/pdf\" height=480 width=640 title=\"Temple Footbridge E351 1A (1)\"><\/object><iframe class=\"embed-pdf-viewer\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/viewer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdhwnews.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2025%2F10%2FTemple-Footbridge-E351-1A-1.pdf&amp;embedded=true\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"height:480px;width:640px;\" title=\"Temple Footbridge E351 1A (1)\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dhwnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Temple-Footbridge-E351-1A-1.pdf\" title=\"Temple Footbridge E351 1A (1)\">Temple Footbridge E351 1A (1)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<hr \/>\n<p>NOTE FROM IAN 26-10-2025<\/p>\n<p>Ewan,<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for sending the drawing<\/p>\n<p>I am not a qualified bridge construction engineer but make the following basic comments.<\/p>\n<p>1. There are no specific abutment details for either end.<\/p>\n<p>2. The north end abutment appears to be more substantial than the south.<\/p>\n<p>3. The south end does not appear to have any width of support metal or otherwise carrying out from the beam spreading load , spring , or expansion to the buttress , maybe another detail drawing exists showing this.<\/p>\n<p>4. The metal materials listed include galvanised steel, this would indicate that there is a calculated lifespan , relative to the protective element of the coating being introduced to continuously water impregnated wood.<\/p>\n<p>5. Wood construction has a deteriorating life span , Including HMS Victory which has almost none of its original timbers.
