railway bridge collapse -1988"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I came across some old photos in a cupboard (genuine colour images dating from 1988) of the structures in place after the Wraysbury railway bridge collapse.\u00a0 \u00a0The bridge failed because contractors took insufficient care of the local land drainage infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The first image below shows the nearby iron bridge (similar and constructed about 1850) that was unaffected by the events of 1988.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2859\"
