The Jubilee River is now 24 years old.\u00a0 You can see a local newspaper report on the 2002 opening ceremony here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and another report here<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

24 years later and the channel is still incapable of conveying its design capacity – and has had enormous amounts of money poured in just to keep it working.\u00a0 So let me just briefly list some of today’s unresolved issues from Taplow and on downstream to Datchet and beyond:<\/p>\n

THE FUTURE?\u00a0 We need to know where we are before we can go forward with the downstream channel extensions – so here are some questions to be considered:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Jubilee River (MWEFAS) was opened in 2002.\u00a0 The downstream channel extension projects (LTFRMS, RTS and DHEFIM) have cost about \u00a3120m over 18 years.\u00a0 These projects are still in the development phase and without an approved outline business case.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Questions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1)\u00a0 Who is accountable?\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

2)\u00a0 Where are we today?\u00a0 Confirm how much time and whose money has been spent on these projects?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

3)\u00a0 Publish the estimated future costs, timescales and milestones for these projects – and keep to them!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
