UPDATE – Extract from The Guardian 25-8-2026:\u00a0 \u00a0 AI datacentres use a massive amount of electricity<\/strong> to power servers and cooling equipment, and to run facility systems. There are currently 315 datacentres in the queue to connect<\/strong><\/span> to the UK\u2019s electricity grid, representing 73GW of demand. This is almost double the peak winter energy demand for the entire UK.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Because of the long wait to connect to the grid, the Wapseys Wood and Quest Park [Bucks] datacentres are seeking to build their own on-site gas-fired power stations.<\/p>\n

The proposed Manor Farm Data Centre (that is located within Slough Borough at Poyle – but borders Horton in RBWM) has been approved and more details can be found here.<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 The site lies immediately to the North of the Wraysbury Reservoir.\u00a0 The approved planning application was for one building but it looks like there is a new proposal for three further buildings of a similar size.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
