Work has begun to remove the collapsed Ashford Lane timber footbridge over the Jubilee River in Dorney, Bucks.\u00a0 This footbridge was commissioned by the Environment Agency and then transferred to the Local Authority.\u00a0 Sadly the design life of this timber footbridge – say 25-30 years – was shorter than the design life of the Jubilee River.\u00a0 This is not an isolated problem.\u00a0 There are five timber footbridges locally of which four are closed to pedestrians.\u00a0 Berry Hill footbridge is partially repaired and usable.\u00a0 Temple is partially dismantled, Ashford Lane collapsed (twice), Black Potts and the Allotments footbridges are both closed and unusable by pedestrians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
