Power hungry Cllr David John Buckley (Reform UK) – in his position as Chair of Datchet Parish Council – is continuing his repeated and futile attempts to hijack the assets of the DRCCT.\u00a0 DPC tried in the 1970s’ and failed.\u00a0 These valuable assets belong to people of Datchet – not Datchet Parish Council.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 There is legislation that prevents conflict of interest between local authorities – LGA 1972(s139)3<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 Datchet Parish Council\u00a0 has no lease or licence and consequently no right to use a building (No 1 Allen Way) belonging to the DRCCT as a Parish Office and at no cost.\u00a0 Datchet Parish Council should not be receiving a self-benefit from the use of DRCCT assets and I have notified the External Auditor.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 The DPC Statement<\/a><\/strong><\/span> dated April 2025 names the Councillors involved as follows: These are the DPC members that voted for this action \u2013 Chairman David Buckley, Darren Sanders, Caroline Wise, Andrew Clemins, Cllr Young, Cllr Bacon, Cllr Loveridge and Cllr Whelan.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> (Glover resigned)<\/p>\n

The DRCCT website<\/a><\/strong><\/span> states as follows: The Trust Deed of 21 March 1967 specifies that the assets shall be held \u201cin perpetuity as a non-sectarian and non-political place of recreation\u2026 for the advantage or benefit of the said residents\u2026 without distinction of political or other opinion.\u201d A Parish Council \u2014 an elected political body \u2014 cannot be the trustee of a non-political trust without creating an irresolvable conflict at the heart of the charity\u2019s governance. That is not an argument invented by the current trustees. It is what the founding document says, in plain English, and what the Charity Commission\u2019s rejection of the 1977 application effectively confirmed.<\/p>\n
