By-election – Sept 4th – Datchet Parish Council?

Posted on July 21, 2025July 23, 2025 by ecwlarcombe

The single vacancy on Datchet Parish Council (DPC) can be filled using the co-option process since a ‘demand-for-election’ complete with signatures was not received by RBWM.

The second vacancy on Datchet Parish Council can be filled using the by-election process.  The date pencilled in is Thursday 4th September and this is dependent on the RBWM elections department receiving two or more nominations for the single vacancy.

Appropriate notices will be posted by DPC in due course.

‘What an absolute waste of money….’
This is what one Datchet Parish Councillor stated about spending money on election costs. In an email dated 22-7-2025 this Councillor wrote “Thanks Sonia [Clerk to Datchet Parish Council]. What an absolute waste of money that certain individuals are causing us.”

In contrast to that Councillors view, I believe we still live in a democracy and it is not appropriate for a co-opted (to be more specific – UNELECTED) Councillor to condemn the printing and distribution of poll cards as a waste of money. What do you think?
