Crans-Montana fire – another Grenfell?

Posted on January 2, 2026January 4, 2026 by ecwlarcombe

Hardly into the 2026 New Year and here we go again.  Yet another building constructed with limited means of escape, loaded with flammable materials and packed with people.  Have we all forgotten Grenfell in June 2017 or is it simply that we are unable to learn?  Reports suggest that it could have been a DIY refurb project.  It will be interesting to see the speed, breadth and effectiveness of the Swiss response to their fire.  Which reminds me – whatever happened about possible Grenfell criminal charges – maybe end 2026?  See BBC report here.   END
