DRCCT – an open letter to David Buckley

Posted on March 3, 2026March 3, 2026 by ecwlarcombe

David – You have now spent a year (with the support of your ill-informed, co-opted cronies) trying to hijack the assets of the DRCCT. You have used the DPC website and the local Press to repeatedly discredit both Cllr Mrs Davies and myself. You were not even on the Council when Mrs Davies and myself were appointed as DRCCT Trustees in April 2019. As DRCCT Trustees we have a duty to protect the assets of the Charity and can be held personally liable if we fail to do so. Today the DPC is not honouring the ‘Division of Responsibilities’ agreement. Surely by occupying the Parish Office (owned by the DRCCT) without a lease or licence, and not paying in accordance with the Agreement, the Parish Council is engaging in a Conflict of Interest i.e. getting something for nothing. We made it clear last year that changes to locks, or attempts to take control of DRCCT property, employees and money without the proper authority could be considered as interference with the Charity assets. You had no right to intimidate the Hall Manager, to demand the Hall booking takings or to change the locks. For the record I will remind you that we have given DPC Notice to Vacate the property 1 Allen Way. I trust this subject will be considered on the Agenda for 9/3/2026. In my opinion you have demonstrated lack of leadership by keeping Datchet Parish Councillors in the dark and not even debating let alone concluding this fiasco after nearly one year.  Regards – Ewan Larcombe

DATCHET

The name "Datchet" is thought to be Celtic in origin, and the last part may be related to cet ("wood"). In the Domesday Book it is called "Daceta".lla. Datchet is first mentioned between 990 and 994, when King Ethelred made small grants of land here.

HORTON

The village name "Horton" is a common one in England. It is Old English in origin and derives from the two words horu 'dirt' and tūn 'settlement, farm, estate', presumably meaning 'farm on muddy soil'.In the Domesday Book of 1086 it was recorded as Hortune.

WRAYSBURY

The village name was traditionally spelt Wyrardisbury; it is Anglo Saxon in origin and means 'Wïgrǣd's fort'. Its name is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Wirecesberie and as Wiredesbur in 1195. The name is seen again as Wyrardesbury in 1422.
