Vacancy on Wraysbury Parish Council

There is a vacancy on Wraysbury Parish Council.  This position is only for one year until May 2027 – when the entire council is up for election.  This election process is activated only if a request in writing is made by ten local government electors for the parish to the Returning Officer. 

If no such request is received within the prescribed period, the vacancy will be filled by co option by Wraysbury Parish Council.

NOTICE OF VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF PARISH COUNCILLOR

WRAYSBURY PARISH COUNCIL
Local Government Act 1972 – Section 87(2)

Notice is hereby given that a casual vacancy has occurred in the office of Parish Councillor for Wraysbury Parish Council following the resignation of Neelam (Neelu) Kaur, given under Section 84(1) of the Local Government Act 1972.
An election will be held to fill the vacancy if a request in writing is made by ten local government electors for the parish to the Returning Officer at:

The Returning Officer – (Via Electoral Services)
Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
Town Hall
St Ives Road
Maidenhead
SL6 1RF

The request must be received within 14 days from the date of this notice.
For the purposes of computing the fourteen day (or sixty day) period, no account shall be taken of Saturdays, Sundays, Bank Holidays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, or any day appointed for public thanksgiving or mourning.
If no such request is received within the prescribed period, the vacancy will be filled by co option by Wraysbury Parish Council.

DATCHET

The name "Datchet" is thought to be Celtic in origin, and the last part may be related to cet ("wood"). In the Domesday Book it is called "Daceta".lla. Datchet is first mentioned between 990 and 994, when King Ethelred made small grants of land here.

HORTON

The village name "Horton" is a common one in England. It is Old English in origin and derives from the two words horu 'dirt' and tūn 'settlement, farm, estate', presumably meaning 'farm on muddy soil'.In the Domesday Book of 1086 it was recorded as Hortune.

WRAYSBURY

The village name was traditionally spelt Wyrardisbury; it is Anglo Saxon in origin and means 'Wïgrǣd's fort'. Its name is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Wirecesberie and as Wiredesbur in 1195. The name is seen again as Wyrardesbury in 1422.
