I came across an article by Edward Bouet on the River Thames Scheme dated February 2026 – but still interesting and very relevant.
Recent political intervention and growing local frustration over the River Thames Scheme have brought long-running questions about flood defence delivery sharply back into focus. What began as a technically ambitious response to well-understood flood risk is increasingly becoming a case study in the difficulty of turning analysis into action.
In my opinion – the MWEFAS and Jubilee River are already case studies in how not to do the job. Here we go again?
