Datchet Hall break-in (UPDATE)

Posted on October 13, 2026October 13, 2026 by ecwlarcombe

Unfortunately while we were at our Datchet Parish Council meeting in the Cricket Club it is alleged that Cllr Buckley (absent from the meeting) was leading a second raid on Datchet Hall – accompanied by a locksmith and a posse of security men.   This building is owned by the DRCCT – so who authorised this action – and who is/will be paying the costs?  Can you trust a Parish Council Chairman who breaks into a building he does not own and prevents the Trustees from entering the building?  For the record – the Caretaker is employed and paid by the DRCCT – not the Parish Council.

UPDATE: Questions for the Clerk.

Dear Clerk – You will be aware that Cllr David Buckley (accompanied by a locksmith) broke into the Datchet Hall last night. This is the second time. We DRCCT Trustees are now prevented from accessing the Hall by on-site security men – consequently I have a few questions for you please:
1) Who organised yet another raid on Datchet Hall?
2) When did you become aware of this action?
3) When was this action agreed by Datchet Parish Council?
4) Who is paying for the locksmith and the ongoing security costs?
5) When will the security men leave and allow normal operations?

Thank you

Ewan

THE SECURITY OPERATION AT DATCHET HALL:  The posse of security men are supplied through Sentra Solutions Security.  The Company Number is 09042389 – and the registered address is Jubilee House 3 The Drive, Great Warley, Brentwood, Essex, CM13 3FR.  The boss is Nicholas Anthony Wood.

DATCHET

The name "Datchet" is thought to be Celtic in origin, and the last part may be related to cet ("wood"). In the Domesday Book it is called "Daceta".lla. Datchet is first mentioned between 990 and 994, when King Ethelred made small grants of land here.

HORTON

The village name "Horton" is a common one in England. It is Old English in origin and derives from the two words horu 'dirt' and tūn 'settlement, farm, estate', presumably meaning 'farm on muddy soil'.In the Domesday Book of 1086 it was recorded as Hortune.

WRAYSBURY

The village name was traditionally spelt Wyrardisbury; it is Anglo Saxon in origin and means 'Wïgrǣd's fort'. Its name is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Wirecesberie and as Wiredesbur in 1195. The name is seen again as Wyrardesbury in 1422.
